Art and You

What does the word art mean to you? No matter what you think, the things that you dram can tell a person a lot about you. If you are having a stressful time in your life, you should sit down and draw a few things. It has been shown that if you put your mind to other uses during the times of trouble that the simple fact that you are occupied will help pull you through the situation that you are currently going through. Many people already have a passion for art, but they are wasting their talent. Even if you are not good at art, a little practice could bring out the artist that is in you. If you are at all in to art, may I urge you to go all the way with it, because it can land you one great job.

As a child, I used to love to draw and doodle but I was never able to make it a talent. A smart kid, by that I mean a kid that is in above average classes, has been known to be able to draw very well. I feel this is a talent that you are born with. Yes practice will help you become better, but most of the ability to draw, I feel is a natural thing for people. Many of the worlds famous writers are also artists. Have you ever seen a book that was just made up of pictures? If you sit back and study the pictures, they seem to tel more of a story that if you wrote a book. Both writing and art go hand in hand. It takes talent to get interested in the both of them. It is strange, but I love to write, but art is at the bottom of my list when it comes to things that I like to do.

Have you ever been on a road trip, and the kids just seemed to pester you a lot? I am sure that at some point we all have been through this. You know what I mean? With their famous questions, like are we there yet? You have to put yourself in their shoes, and remember that you were a kid once too. Children are very curious. How do you keep them from being to much of a bother while you are in a car with them? The answer is simple.Keep them occupied with other things. I feel that art is a form of education. When the kids are out of school, they seem to get all wrapped up in other things and forget the things they have learned in school when it is time time to return to school. To keep them interested in school, you may want to get them an art pad and some different types of writing utensils. Though art is educational, a lot of kids find it fun. The more fun that you make something, the better the children will like it, therefore, they will stay with it.

Keeping Every Special Occasion – and the Environment – Green

Sure, people talk all the time about a white Christmas, but what about keeping it green for our environment? The tree isn't the only thing that needs to be that beautiful color of nature. We all need to think greener and then let our actions follow our words if this planet is to survive, but it isn't always that easy to do. If you want to keep your environment green this year, there are some specific things that you can look at. First, think about the gifts you're buying. All those expensive toys that you have to plug in and buy batteries for are just the start of it. You also have all kinds of gifts that take a lot of energy to make and when they are finally discarded they will sit in a landfill for way too many years. A lot of people try to protect the environment in various ways like planting trees and recycling, but they usually get caught up in the holiday rush just like everyone else. You don't have to be one of those people.

You can get green toys, green clothing, and even green wrapping paper! Many of these items are marked with an ecological symbol so you know they're a good choice. Also look for items that are made from natural materials and that aren't overly processed, because all that processing takes energy and resources that we're running out of. The more we take from the environment the less it will have to offer for future generations, as well. Those generations might be young and not take it seriously right now, but they'll get older and see the importance of it. If you can start them off early and show them the value of environmental protection, so much the better. The holidays are a great time to teach others that what you practice all year long doesn't have to be set aside in the face of greed and consumerism. Shopping online is another way to help, because you aren't driving your car all over the place looking for good deals – and there are a lot of online stores that offer green solutions. You'll end up spending about the same money as you otherwise would, and you'll get a lot more joy and peace of mind for your purchase.

No matter how serious you are about protecting the environment there is always something that you can do to help out. There are very few people who truly and completely live green, but more and more people are working toward doing so. At a time of year when all kinds of expensive and environmentally dangerous items are being heavily marketed and companies are trying to get people to spend, spend, spend so they can make some money in this economy, you can make an early New Year's resolution to go green. Buy that plain brown wrapping paper and let your children draw on it for decoration. Shop for items that are made from recycled materials. You'll be amazed and touched by how much of a difference we all can make for our environment.

Wii, PS3, and XBox 360: Adding Spice to your World

These three seventh generation video gaming consoles have been around in the gaming industry for barely two years and yet they have greatly captured the interests of millions of people worldwide. It’s about time to pit them together and get a rundown list of how these consoles fare and see what their differences are. Let’s take a closer look at each one of them and see what they have to share in the spotlight.

Wii

The renowned Wii console is brought to us by Nintendo. It has made a serious impact to the gamers as well as the gaming industry with its innovative wireless motion controls that are used in playing the game. It has instantly grown be the console of choice for most families and gamers of all ages. Wii has a wide selection of games that are aimed to target both sexes of any ages.

Wii is known for its backward compatibility and its feature wherein you can play old classic games from your old consoles simply via downloads. It’s also the best option for those choosing a group fun since it supports four controllers and online functionality.

The drawback of Wii is its graphic limitations. It all begun to surface when the games started to be released because Will consoles didn’t have the ability to handle stunning graphics that the PS3 and Xbox 360 can easily manage.

Playstation 3

This pretty face comes with the latest technology and graphics enhancements. It is more of a home entertainment system compared to being a standard gaming console. This is due to the console’s computing versatility and Blu-ray support. The PS3 console has fairly and effectively attracted more hardcore gamers as they share highly acclaimed games. With the launching of the Playstation Home and Wifi support, PS3 is capable of multiplayer support.

The prime disadvantage of the system is that it comes in a hefty price that starts at around $399. The cost of PS3 is somewhat expensive that is why most of the 3rd party game developers veer away and find ways to resort to the other gaming consoles.

Xbox 360

Xbox 360 is the early bird of the seventh generation consoles. It has incredible high definition graphics which is much like the PS3. It contains extensive library of games that target almost the same audiences with those of the PS3 console. It is also famous for its ability to offer high rated games in today’s market. Xbox 360 comes with another unique service called the Xbox Live service, which makes it a better choice for online gamers and the Xbox Arcade, which is the best option for people who are into retro gaming.

The Xbox 360 console beats the price of the PS3 by a slight margin. Xbox 360 has lower hard disk space and does not have the Blu-ray support that the PS3 reigns on. Unlike the PS3’s built-in Blu-ray support, Xbox 360 requires a separate HD-DVD drive accessory for playing high definition movies.

These are the three powerful consoles that have their respective share in the gaming industry.

Why a Celebrity is a Big Influence?

Ever since the dawn of time, there has been a big percentage of the population who looks up to the celebrities and worships them. They typically copy their styles, outfits, make up and even hairdo. We each have our very own favorite celebrity that we look up to and admire. The fanatics just go along with what his or her favorite celebrity is up to with no questions asked.

Celebrity will influence people

Each celebrity have their own fan bases, one who has been a celebrity for a longer time and with quality has undoubtedly the highest or biggest fan bases. The fanatics admire their celebrity of choice a lot and to some extent, even worship them. What these celebrities do, wear, and think will be very important to a fan. The fans get all the information they can have on the celebrity they worship because it makes them think that they are closer to them and somehow more connected.

Big doom

Celebrities can influence a fan in so many ways. The easy way and most fundamental way are through fashion. The fans all dress up the ways celebrities do. They copy their style and way of wearing an outfit. They sometimes copy the celebrities’ hairdo and make up and try their best to look like the celebrity they love. For these very reasons and for this very popularity, the celebrities are paid a lot to model, advertise, and promote products and do commercials. A celebrity face is one that is full of charm and one that is captivating. It can allure people; entice them to purchase a certain product, live a certain way, or go to a certain place. The charm that a celebrity has on a fanatic is one like that of a person under a spell. There are even designers who go out of the way to please a celebrity and get the fans’ attention by making a product or clothing line and naming it after the celebrity. All the items that these celebrities endorse or wear turn into new fashion statements. They sell and appeal to a lot of people like crazy.

Significance of a Celebrity

Music and You

What is special about music? Music says a lot about who you are. Music is also a good way to change your mood. For example, if you are in a bad mood, you may want to turn on some soft, slow, or mesmerizing music. Music also helps to motivate you. If you are in the mood to clean the house, lets say, music has been known to be a good way to get you started. What kinds of music do you love to listen to? My tastes vary, depending on the time of year that it is. For example, during the holiday season,  I tend to like Christmas music more than other types during that  time of the year. In the springtime of year I like to listen to soft warm music. It tends to get me in the mood for the warmer time of the year that is ahead.

During this time of the year, there are a lot of people who love to travel to see the loved ones that they are away from at other times of the year. If you have kids, this can be a time of stressful travel for you. What can you do to keep them alive, happy, and quiet? Why not try and make a game out of the music that you hear on the radio? Like who is singing the songs that you hear. Make it a contest to see how many songs each of your children get right. With the holidays here and kids out of school, many times they seem to forget about education. This can be a great time to test what they know about the different music that they hear. Why not sing Christmas carols along the trip? This could be a great way to keep your children occupied while they are cramped up in an automobile.

As for me, music seems to relax me in that time of stress. If you stressed, music may be a good way for you to relax as well. During my life, I have had several major surgeries due to the disability that I have. It has always seemed to me that no matter the amount of pain that I was in, as long as there was music there for me to listen to, the pain seemed to fade away. Another time that music helped me is when my brother passed away. As bad as I hate to admit it, we were not very close at all. When he died, all of the bad times that we had did not matter anymore. I think that was the same for him as well. When he was on the life support machine, I was the only one that he would respond to. This was when music started meaning a lot to me. At the same time that he was in the hospital, I was as well. When there was not music playing, I would break out in hives, I guess from the nerves bothering me. It seemed that when I had music playing, all my cares and pain faded away.

Tasting Wines at a Wine Tasting Dinner

Wines of the world unite at wine tasting dinners hosted by local restaurants who try to educate their guests on wine tasting and the enjoyment of food and beverages that compliment each other. For guests who do not get an opportunity to taste a large selection of wine at home, a wine tasting dinner is a perfect place to get the flavor of fine wines through these public dinners. While the guest thinks a wine dinner is all about the wine, it’s actually about marketing a great way to enjoy the finer things in life.

Whether it be handcrafted by monks, or made from backyard grapes of native peoples, wine can be found in different flavors and colors depending on the core ingredient, the grape. Grapes of all kinds have been processed for their sugary sweet juices which when fermented can be made into alcoholic beverages that have become better known as wines.

The world’s grape producers have always had a vision of producing a perfect wine which garnishes the accolades of expert wine tasters and drinkers of fine wines and beverages made from grapes and grape byproducts. Because of the naturally occurring sugars inside of the grape fruit, grape juice can be made into a perfectly fermented drink of kings once it has been crafted into a fine tasting wine. Choosing which wine is perfect for you takes a sampling of different wine flavors to discover which one you like the best.

Instead of choosing one wine and then the next, a private individual may never get enough samples to try to find the perfect wine for them. Many wine connoisseurs judge a wine on many characteristic features that make up the perfect wine. Color, flavor, and alcohol content are some of the deciding factors that separate good wines from great wines, and only through wine tasting will a future award winning wine be discovered. Sometimes the only way to get a sample of many wines is by attending a wine tasting dinner hosted by a local restaurant or wine tasting club which hosts events just so they can have multiple wines and foods available to taste by the public.

For restaurants that host wine tasting dinners, plans must be made before inviting guests to dinner. Selecting menu items that compliment each other is as important as the type of wines that will be available for tasting. Restaurant chefs and wine stewards must work together to present a wine and food menu that not only goes well together, but is presented in a certain way so that more information about the wines will be taken away from the dinner by its guests. Good wine can taste pretty bad if it is enjoyed with foods that do not enhance its flavor.

In order to truly enjoy the flavor of a great wine, you need to be open to the theory that for wine, flavor is not always the determining factor that makes a wine great. The wine makers and bottlers located all around the world produce the same product, but each with its own distinct character. Discovering about wine is as easy as attending a local wine tasting dinner which has a list of up to 12 different wines to taste during the entire wine tasting dinner. Be prepared to learn a lot about the wines that are offered because during a wine tasting dinner the wine hold the position as what brought everyone together in the first place. Wine tasting dinners are great for both new and experienced wine tasters who look for these dinners to taste more wines they would if just attending a regular dinner service or meal.

Wine Tasting

Much more common than beer tasting is wine tasting, a great vehicle for demonstrating how the varied scientific approaches that underlie the psychology of eating and drinking can come together to help us understand particular eating and drinking behaviors. An examination of the wine-tasting process can help us understand not only how wines are evaluated, but how any food or drink is evaluated, as well as the factors that affect those evaluations. Given that many of you have probably never engaged in formal wine tasting, it will be helpful if I begin by briefly describing the wine-tasting procedure. The first step is simply to look at the wine. Then it's swirled in the glass to increase its aroma and bouquet, which are smelled in the next step. Finally the wine is tasted in small sips. It's rolled over the tongue and bits of bread or cheese may be taken between sips. Some wine tasters spit out the sips of wine without swallowing them. This prevents the possible adverse effects of alcohol on sensory sensitivity.
Each of these steps is performed separately, quietly, and with as little distraction as possible. This separation and isolation in the wine-tasting process permit more attention to be focused on each of the steps. People are more likely to report detecting low levels of specific tastes or odors under these conditions. Another way to help increase people's reported sensitivity to tastes and odors during wine tasting is to offer rewards for accurate judgments or to set up a competition among the wine tasters. A factor that affects everyone's odor sensitivity no matter how motivated they are is the temperature of the wine. When wine is very cold it's harder to smell. Most people who taste wine without distractions, and when the wine is at the appropriate temperature, can become skilled at discriminating among various types of wine. To judge the odor of a wine, wine tasters pay attention to both the wine's aroma, which consists of the odors arising from the type of grape used in making the wine, and the wine's bouquet, which consists of the odors derived from fermentation, processing, or aging. Calling the various odors by specific names may help in their identification. For example, many people describe the aroma of the Sauvignon Blanc grape as spicy. In judging the taste of the wine, the wine is rolled around on the tongue so that all of the taste receptors are stimulated.
In addition to smell and taste, the senses of vision and touch are critical to wine tasting. The visual judgment of a wine includes judging both the wine's color and its appearance, for example, whether it's cloudy. If the color of a wine is unusual for its type, this may affect the wine taster's judgment of other aspects of the wine, such as the wine's taste. Certain tastes are associated with certain colors, and it's harder to detect a taste if its usually associated color isn't present. If the wine is cloudy, a taster may be more likely to judge the wine's taste as below par. This probably happens because, in the past, that taster has encountered cloudy wine and it did not taste good. However, given that appearance and taste aren't always correlated, it's important to try to prevent such interactive effects. One solution is to drink the wine out of a glass painted black, so that it's impossible to see the wine. Then the merits of the wine's taste can be judged by themselves.

Hosting a Wine Tasting Party

If you like wine and you enjoy having a glass of it with friends, you might want to consider hosting a wine tasting party. At first thought you might be concerned that these are difficult, but that's really not the case. They can be remarkably easy to do as long as you plan in advance, do a little research, and know that every party can have a few quirks. If you take yourself too seriously, you probably won't have a good time. Unfortunately, too many people think that you can't have any kind of wine tasting without subdued voices, men in tuxedos, and women in cocktail gowns. Those things are seen at some parties but they aren't required, and you can have a wine tasting in t-shirts and jeans if that's how you want to do things. There are no set rules, and everything is up to you. That's the beauty of hosting your own wine tasting party, because you get to plan it and make sure that you set it up in a way that you feel comfortable with, instead of making it stuffy and pretentious because you feel that you have to.

Once you decide on what kind of party you really want to have and who you're going to invite, be sure to tell your guests whether the party is formal or casual so they can dress appropriately and be prepared for it. Once that's been accomplished you'll also want to decide what wines you want to have for the tasting. The number of people you've invited, how long the party is scheduled for, and what your budget is will largely determine how many wines you'll have available for the tasting and what quality and price range those wines will fall into. You don't have to buy wines that cost hundreds of dollars per bottle, especially if your party is casual. Instead, you might want to buy less expensive wines and be able to offer a few more tasting options to your guests. While a little bit of culture is expected and appreciated at wine tasting events, parties in the home are usually much less formal.

You should also offer your guests more than just wine. Having cheese and crackers, finger sandwiches, and other snacks can be an important part of the get-together. Many people who come to wine tasting events want not only to try the different wines but also to mingle and get to know others, and they can do that more easily around a little bit of food and a relaxed atmosphere. It paves the way for good and honest conversation and can help make your wine tasting event much better than it otherwise would have been. Too many people think that hosting a wine tasting party is difficult, but for the most part it is not that complicated. As long as you plan ahead a little bit and make some effort to be prepared for surprises and changes, you and your guests should all have a wonderful time.

Art Snobs Are a Dying Breed

Art snobs are a dying breed, as internet access and underground galleries make art available to real people at real prices. While high-end art reselling is not a sin, the price tag they have put on beauty is about to be revolted against. Artists, unite!

The Internet Revolution

Many amazing artists have died without honor, recognition or financial success. In fact, many artists, who died rejected and alone, are now the most lauded by critics and art dealers! The reason for this lies in the fact that the high-end galleries of each generation care primarily about one thing, money. For this reason, many groundbreaking artists experience rejection from large mainstream galleries until the times can catch up with the artist’s innovative work enough to make them a commercial commodity. Unfortunately, the times often catch up with revolutionary artists too late.

These days, open source information exchanges such as the internet are allowing artists to thrive without a nod from large, high-end galleries. These days, art emerging as a cutting-edge expression of modern culture can be appreciated, validated, and properly recompensed. Artists can display their work on art forums, social networking sites and personal web pages in order to gain exposure and sell their pieces to consumers.

The internet has completely revolutionized the way artists come to prominence, as power is taken from large art houses and is put into the hands of the masses. Many artists these days become successful, paid artists long before they are ever lauded by a magazine or put into a large gallery.

Eye of the Beholder

Finally, the beauty of each individual piece of art is legitimately placed in the eye of the beholder. No longer do men and women need art critics and gallery owners, to tell them what qualifies as fine art and what does not. Anyone with internet access can browse through an almost limitless vault of artwork and can purchase most of it using their credit card or Paypal account.

Because of the cultural shift in the perception of art, many art galleries are being forced to embrace forms of art that they would before have ignored. Young and innovative modern artists are also opening up their own galleries and art coalitions instead of putting their work into established galleries. This breaks up the monopoly just a few prestigious art galleries have held over the mainstream art world and gives a voice to the artists of our current generation.

Honoring the Past

The current ability of emergent artists to have their work seen and purchased does not diminish the great artistic expressions that have come forth from previous generations. In fact, many of today’s most successful artists were first inspired by a piece of art they saw in a museum or high-end art gallery.

The blending of the old with the new does not denigrate the world of art, but instead it enhances it. Revolutionary artists of old must be smiling down from heaven at their predecessors, pleased that the road to modern day artist’s success will not be as arduous as their own.
